  • Product Description

Vintage silver plated stirrup drinking cups with a figural fox head. Quite the clever design, with the ears and snout serving as sitting points. Stirrup cups were popular in the late 1800s among the gentry types. A cup, usually filled to the brim with port or sherry, was offered as a parting gift to guests on horseback (feet already in stirrups) as they headed to the fox hunt.

This is an assembled set of three 8 ounce cups, and one 2 ounce cup.

No makers mark present. Nice patina from age and use.

    Dimensions: 5"tall x 3 1/4" diameter for the 8 ounce cups. 3.5"tall x 2 1/4" for the 2 ounce cup.
