Full color offset reproduction print of a hand-colored lithograph by Jean Theodore Descourtilz. Descourtilz (1796-1855) was a celebrated French painter and naturalist. This print comes from a book of 60 hand-colored illustrations of Brazilian birds. The entire collection of 60 prints, bound together in the book, retails at over $7000! I learned about this artist from a collector in Florida who was selling off her sizable collection. I selected only a few prints from her for the shop. My favorites were plates 45, 43, and 31. I like the way he painted the fruit, and the foliage. The bird in its natural environment. The fruit. I REALLY like the way he paints fruit.

The colors are incredible too.
