All original, early 1900's parlor room sofa made by Eastlake Furniture Company. The founding designer and architect, Charles Eastlake, was a proponent of careful craftsmanship and aimed to create simple, sturdy furniture that was a reaction against the Rococo over-the-top style of the 1800's. Eastlake pieces are detailed, and have ornamentation (look at those carvings! and tufts! and arm curves!) but it wasn't excessive, and was considered the first glimpses of modernism. I'm a fan of the Eastlake style.
This sofa is in good shape for the age.
